Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction

  Mindfulness- Based Stress Reduction

(GROUP SESSIONS AVAILABLE upon request of individuals or companies)

What is Mindfulness?

Mindfulness is a concept that originally comes from Eastern philosophy, but that is now used by many psychologists as an essential way of dealing with problems. It encompasses the idea of non-judgmental acknowledgement and acceptance of one’s thoughts/feelings, and of bringing awareness and focus to the present moment. The Breath is used as an anchor to stay in this present moment, as a way to train the mind, and as a link between the mind and the body.

I have conducted several mindfulness-based stress reduction groups for a variety of people, including community mental health centers, nursing staff in rehab centers, free medical camps, during disaster relief for Hurricane Katrina in Mississippi and during the earthquake in Haiti, and for youth and adults in my private practice. The feedback I have received for this approach has been overwhelmingly positive. People feel empowered and ready to take on challenges from a place of calmness, courage, and resolve.
